CIECC Successfully Visited Three European Countries to Explore International Collaborations

From October 11th to 19th, 2016, Mr. Zhu Xiaoliang, Director of China International Electronic Commerce Center (CIECC) and Chairman of APEC E-commerce Business Alliance, led a delegation to visit Portugal, Ireland and UK. During their visit in Portugal, the delegation attended the 2016 Portugal Digital Summit and Director Zhu Xiaoliang delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. The delegation also cohosted the first China-Portugal E-Commerce Round Table with Portuguese Association of Digital Economy (ACEPI). Portuguese Commerce Secretary of State Mr. Paulo Alexandre Ferreira and more than 20 Portuguese companies and university representatives attended the conference. During their visit in UK and Ireland, the delegation held Sino-UK E-Commerce Cooperation Workshop with Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) and China-Britain Business Council respectively, introduced in detail the development of e-commerce in China and discussed the feasibility of UK retailers entering Chinese market. The delegation also visited the University of Sussex in UK and Dublin City University in Ireland, communicated with directors of business schools upon bilateral cooperation on e-commerce talent training. They also introduced the main business of CIECC, including China International Electronic Commerce Expo, www.100iec.com, www.investgo.cn, etc., invited foreign enterprises to attend the Expo and received positive feedback. ACEPI mentioned that it would participate in 2017 China International Electronic Commerce Expo.

Afterintensive schedule of nine days’ visit and friendly negotiations, CIECC notonly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with ACEPI and IMRGrespectively, but also reached agreement with Dublin City University and Universityof Sussex, etc. All parts will conduct practical cooperation on bilateralinformation exchange, e-commerce development reports, talent training,cross-border e-commerce business and services, bilateral business visits andother related areas.
